ID work is shifting the shape of my identity. I am more present to myself and to my life. Less and less does the feeling of urgency, of needing to do more or be more, of being fundamentally “not enough.” arise or overwhelm me.

Description of Facilitator Training Program contd.
The Institute’s Facilitator Training Program is a unique and comprehensive way to really dive-in and get to know the deeper aspects of yourself on a whole other level. Whether you are already in “the helping services” looking for additional resources for your toolbox or simply enjoy the process of self-exploration for the fun of it, the Institute offers six 10-week courses (60 weeks total) of basic training. Don’t let the math scare you—you can enroll in each 10-week course as you go; you don’t have to make the full commitment all at once.
The overall training is designed with busy lives in mind, meaning the modular aspect of the coursework can be completed based on individual needs, to a certain extent. However, taking the courses in sequential order is beneficial for seamless learning. Each course builds upon the previous course.
The first four courses focus on trauma theory and can be stand-alone. The latter two courses focus on facilitation and help transition the participant from being a student to a being a full-fledged facilitator. Weekly class sessions are three hours* and focus on deepening individual understanding—of self and the material. To ensure a clear understanding of the Institute’s approach, coursework is comprised of the following:
- Assigned reading and student discussions in between class sessions
- Class discussions of assigned reading so students are exposed to multiple perspectives
- Group ID sessions for each participant (typically two per person per course)
- Participant write-ups of their own session, followed up with group discussion
- Latter coursework includes supervised, student-facilitated sessions
*It’s not uncommon to run 30 mins longer—it’s more important that each student gets what they need, so we allow for the extra time.
Regardless of where you are on the spectrum of personal learning or professional growth, participation in the Facilitator Training will enhance your ability to be with yourself, and in turn with others, in an exponentially more fulfilling, satisfying, and heartened, empowered way.
You need no previous experience to participate in the training, though it may help to attend an open workshop or two. But then again, who’s to say? Some have strong instincts and like to jump in blind! Wherever you are in your journey, we are pleased to meet you!
